William E. Hein age 89 of Portage, WI died on Monday, April 11, 2022, at the Divine Savior Hospital in Portage, WI. William was born on May 27, 1932, to William and Mary (Hanny) Hein. William married Arlene Helwig on September 16, 1961, in Milwaukee, WI, Arlene preceded Bill in death on August 22, 2015 Bill served in the United States Army for 9 years. Bill was employed at Divine Savior Hospital in Portage for many years. He enjoyed gardening and nurturing all kinds if plants. Bill had a great sense of humor and was quick with a joke or funny response. He enjoyed volunteering with many organizations, delivering meals or driving some elderly person who needed a ride. Bill is survived by his three children: Kathy (Paul Amaral) Higgins; Jim (Kristen Braithwaite) Hein; Kristine (Patrick) Grossback, grandchildren Patrick Higgins, Ryan and Sarah Grossback, a very special friend Jan Radish, sisters Mary (Roger) Stevens, Shirley Bosbeck and a brother Len (Rose) Hein. Many nieces, nephews, and friends. William is preceded in death by his parents, and wife Arlene. Funeral Services with rosary service will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. in the Kratz Funeral Home in Portage, WI. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. Service Details.
