Obituary

Kathleen “Kathy” Ann Reuter (Urfer), 60, passed away peacefully with hospice, on Thursday, May 11, 2023, surrounded by family at Aspirus Divine Savior Hospital in Portage, WI. Kathy was born January 21, 1963, to Edward and Gloria (Montalto) Urfer. She was one of six children and loved her sisters and brothers very much. On July 11, 1980, Kathy was united in marriage to Gary Reuter. Together they had three children. Family has always been important to Kathy. She spent the better part of her life as a homemaker taking care of her children. She was most proud of being a mom! Throughout Kathy’s life she worked in many service jobs including being a nursing assistant. Kathy has always had a BIG HEART and willingness to help others no matter what. Kathy held many interests as well. She enjoyed music to the fullest. She listened to everything from Elvis (her favorite), 80’s hair bands, new and older country, and everything in between. A good night was listening to music, whether live or at home. Kathy also enjoyed NASCAR. She liked cheering Jimmie Johnson on until his retirement. She also loved cheering on the Green Bay Packers and San Francisco 49ers. In more recent years, she continued to put family first. She enjoyed spending time with her adult children but was forever happy to be a grandma to her three grandchildren. She spent time with them when she could. She always inquired about their daily activities whether it was playing at the park, a sporting event, or dance recital. She also enjoyed her phone and video chats. She especially loved photos and was always liking and sharing pictures of her grandchildren on social media. Kathy also enjoyed spending time with her dog, Baby. They were described as “two peas in a pod.” They went for walks together when able and watched many television programs together. Some of their favorites were NCIS, Law and Order, and Chicago Med, PD, and Fire. Baby traveled with Kathy wherever she went. Kathy will be missed by her children: Gina Reuter of Windsor, WI; John (Lindsay) Reuter of Waunakee, WI; Travis Reuter of Windsor, WI; and her dog, Baby. Parents, Edward and Gloria Urfer of Madison, WI. Sister, Deborah Beecher of Texas. Brother, Ed (Valerie) Urfer of Madison, WI. Grandchildren: Trentyn Giere of Windsor, WI, Adelleine and Thomas Reuter of Waunakee, WI. Many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and a nephew. Kathy was preceded in death by her grandparents, Paul and Pearl Montalto; sisters, Terry Simons and Rhonda Urfer; brother, Paul Urfer. A celebration of life is planned for Saturday, July 8, 2023, from 11am-3pm at Tierny Park in Waunakee, WI. Kratz Funeral Home of Portage is serving the family. Kathy was an organ donor and was able to help over 75 people through donation. “Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.” -Proverbs 31:31
