Joanette "Joany" N. Stenberg

Joanette (Joany) Naomi Stenberg passed away peacefully on Friday, October 20. She was preceded in death by her husband Duane Stenberg, parents Norman and Gladys Thompson, sister Bonnie Thompson, and brother Michael Thompson and sister in law Kathie Thompson. Joany was born on September 14, 1946 at Tri-County Memorial Hospital in Whitehall, WI. Joany graduated from Blair High School in 1964. After high school she continued her education specializing in the areas of office management and accounting. She worked for Grand View Care Center for 35 years as office supervisor with accounts payable and payroll responsibilities. Joany always believed in family first. She loved to go camping with family and friends. Joany enjoyed attending all of her children’s extracurricular events from watching a football, baseball, or volleyball game to providing a “taxi service” to scouts, dance lessons, forensics, and various other events. She could be heard in the stands with a supportive “Let’s go Wildcats! You can do it!” Joany rarely missed her children’s game or event. She enjoyed attending the events of her grandchildren too. Favorite family traditions included a thanksgiving Black Friday shopping trip, extended family get together at Christmas, summer family reunion, craft fairs, lots of trips to local businesses for planting necessities, lefse and sandbakkel making, playing cards, dancing to the oldies and lots of loud laughter. Joany truly is an amazing person who will be greatly missed but all those who knew her will feel blessed that she is finally able to go home and rest. She is survived by her children Jason (Heather) Stenberg; Greg (Jenny) Stenberg; Carol (Stenberg) and Mark Hartmann and her grandchildren Montgomery , Samuel, Thompson, Sabrina, Eleanor, and Carter. Joany was very active in the Blair community. She volunteered frequently with the church council, LMC club, quilting club, WELCA, funeral services aid, Blair community calendar, and participated in the special events held at GVCC. She played cards in a 500 card club, euchre and found great pleasure in playing pinochle with her family especially on Friday nights. She was awarded the Blair Civic award winner. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 25, 2023 from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm with service to follow at Zion Lutheran church in Blair, WI. Funeral arrangements by Kratz Funeral home from Portage WI.
