Harold E Ward

Harold Eugene Ward age 94 of Portage, WI died on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at Aspirus Divine Savior in Portage, WI. Harold was born on August 30, 1929, the only son of Bernice Ward. Harold married Phyllis Harvey on July 20, 1957; she preceded him in death in 1990. Harold has missed his loving wife for 33 years. Harold was employed as an Iron worker and was proud of his occupation. He enjoyed his retirement, fishing every day in the summer at the cottage on North Twin Lake in Phelps, WI. Walleye fishing, hunting and sturgeon fishing were his passion. Harold’s winters were spent in Wausau, WI where he would spend his winters making fishing rods, then bring them up to Phelps for people that he knew. He enjoyed woodworking making many picture frames and other projects. He was a person that could craft useful items from nothing. Harold was proud of his grandson; he inherited from his grandpa the ability to fix anything. He was a supporter of his grandson’s passion for Demo Derby’s. Harold is survived by his children; Sheila (Dennis) Kelley; Hal Ward; Scott Ward and a grandson Boyd Kelley. Harold is preceded in death by his wife Phyllis and Mother. Harold’s wishes were to have a private family service. Thank you to the team of nurses at St. Croix Hospice for listening to Harold’s stories and caring for him all these years.
