Caroline B Rittmann

Caroline B. Rittmann age 94 of Portage, WI died on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at Our House in Portage, WI. Caroline was born on November 29, 1928, in North Dakota to Gottlieb and Rosina (Holzworth) Auck. Caroline was united in marriage to Howard Rittmann on May 1, 1948, at the Portage Presbyterian Church Parsonage. She was employed as a waitress for several restaurants and diners in the Portage area. Caroline lived a fulfilling life, living independently up until the last two months. She was a feisty lady, enjoyed socializing with people and loved to entertain. She was an excellent baker, known for her Christmas baking and her banana cream pie. Caroline is survived by her daughter Vickie Miller of Portage; son Scott (Tammy Lytle) Rittmann of Briggsville, grandchildren Melissa (Chad) Hayes; Nicholas (Elyse) Rittmann and Kelsey Rittmann. Three great grandchildren Ian and Alex Hayes and Charlie Rittmann; a special niece Julie (Tony) Talens and many other nieces, nephews, and friends. Caroline is preceded in death by her parents, husband Howard, eight siblings and a grandson Matthew Lou Miller. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 17, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Portage Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dave Hankins officiating. Burial will follow at the Briggsville Protestant Cemetery. Friends may call at church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. The family would like to extend their thanks to Dr’s Ringdahl and Hegeman and Our House for their care and compassion shown to Caroline.
