William Howard Holden was born on May 12th, 1928 to William and Emma Holden.  He died on October 31st at his home in Briggsville. Bill was an Army veteran.  He worked for a trucking company 33 ½ years.  He had a hobby farm and was a skilled carpenter who built hundreds of bird houses and bat houses.  He donated bird houses to the children at Neenah Creek School in Briggsville.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, camping and traveling.   He was a Lions Club member for 10 years and a lifetime American Legion member.  He enjoyed playing Euchre  (Sometimes 3x/week!) at Briggsville, Portage and the Dells Library.  Bill loved to tell a good story and had a great sense of humor.   People comment, "He was a good man."  He was also a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Briggsville. He most enjoyed bringing a smile to others and loved times with family and friends.  He was an avid bird watcher from his kitchen table and enjoyed the companion of many hunting dogs and other animals.  He and his wife, Mary, enjoyed two stray, spoiled-rotten cats called Tommy and Miss Kitty.  He married Mary Jensen Holden 27 years ago.  He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Pfister Holden  and her parents, Albert and Hazel Pfister, 2nd wife-Henrietta Wilson Holden, and stepson, Lester Jensen.  He was also preceded in death by 4 brothers and 4 sisters:  Donald, Marge (Mel) Wasko, June (Glen) Smith, Cecilia Marlin, Genevieve (Clinton) Stone, Ken (Maureen), Wayne and Norman.  Bill is survived by his brother, John (Joyce) Holden and sister, Norma (Cletus) Rogney, and sister-in-law, Joan Pfister Holden (wife of brother, Don). Bill and Betty have five children:  Monica, Mark (Ruth), Sheila (Bill) Salyers, Bill (Dora), and Colleen (Gary) Reimenschneider.  Stepchildren: Sherry (Bill) Fry, Gilbert Jensen, Bonnie (Ed) Petzke, Harold Jensen, Donna (Larry) Grant and DaVane (Pam) Jensen. He is further survived by in-laws of the Pfister and Jensen families and very many grandchildren, great grands and great-great grands.  Bill would say, "No steps-ALL are my grandchildren!"  He felt the same way about his many Holden, Pfister and Jensen nieces, nephews and their children.  We are all family, and he will be fiercely missed.
