Virgie Ellen Egge, age 96 years, was taken into heaven to meet her Lord on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at the Columbia County Healthcare Center in Wyocena. She was born on September 2, 1917 in Bloomingdale, WI to Morris and Florence (Parr) Pierce. Virgie was united in marriage to John Egge in July 7, 1934; preceding her in death in May 1966. She has lived in Elroy, Wisconsin Dells and in Portage since 1966. Virgie had worked as a housekeeper Spring Hill Motel in Wisconsin Dells, at Schultz's Dime Store and Ray O Vac. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the Women's Guild where she sewed quilts for World Relief. Virgie also enjoyed crafting, sewing, gardening loved playing scrabble and playing kings corners. Survivors include 3 children, Shirley Leege of Wisconsin Dells, Florence (Russell) Schultz of Portage and Jerry Egge of Portage, 9 grandchildren, David (Judy) Legge, Bob (Lisa) Leege, Peter Leege, Kathy (John) LeBrun, Patty (Cliff) Dawson, Tim (Merry) Schultz, Mark (Mary) Schultz, Cindy (Jerry) Wilson and Cheryl Werley, 22 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, John Roger in 1992, a great grandson, brothers, Vincent, Darold, Darwin and Raymond and sisters, Beulah, Vera, Emma, Gloria, Ramona and Lula. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 11:00 AM at St. John's Lutheran Church, Portage with Rev. Alan Boeck officiating. Burial will follow at the Spring Grove Cemetery, Wisconsin Dells. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:30 AM until 11 AM.
