Obituary

Susan Gene O'Dell age 79 died on Sunday April 6, 2025 at the Bluff View Memory Care in Holmen, Wisconsin. Susan was born on October 28, 1945 to Eugene and Lucille Balmer.

She dedicated over 25 years of her life to Oak Forest Hospital as a Respiratory Therapist, a calling she proudly followed in the footsteps of her mother. Her work brought her great purpose and joy—whether she was caring for patients with compassion or sharing laughs and coffee with her coworkers. Her time there shaped her strength, her spirit, and left a lasting mark on everyone she met.

Sue was an extraordinary little lady—feisty, fiercely independent, and endlessly thoughtful. She never missed a birthday or holiday, always made you feel seen and loved, and had a way of turning even the simplest moments into something special. Whether it was extra stickers on a card, a quirky knick-knack, or a specially wrapped gift, she brought her own magic to everything she did.

She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and her love carries on through the generations. Her touch, her voice, her warmth will never fade from the hearts of those who knew her. In her final days, as stories were shared and memories revisited, there was a full-circle tenderness—her granddaughter tracing her face, tickling her arms, and playing with her hair.

Susan is survived by her children, Ronald T. O'Dell, Jeffrey O'Dell, Tami (Todd) Brandau, Steven Eugene (Diane) O'Dell and Daniel J. O'Dell. Survived by her grandchildren Randall, Tyler, Kali, Bree, Erryn, Riley, Matthew, Hannah and thirteen great grandchildren.

Surviving is one sister Laura K. Keenan and a nephew Brett Keenan and Susan's life partner Rich Meyers.

Susan is preceded in death by her parents and three brothers Robert, James and Craig.

There will be no formal service, but instead family invite all who knew her to remember her in their own way- share a memory, raise a toast, or simply smile and think of her. Because as she always said, she is " Happy! Happy! Happy!"
