Steven A. Nelson, 70, of Blair, WI passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully in his home on October 8th. Steve was born on March 3rd, 1953 to Carl "Bud" and Ruth (Tranberg) Nelson in Eau Claire, WI. He attended Western Wisconsin Technical College, earning degrees in Electronic Servicing and Police Science. He later graduated with honors from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse with a degree in Geographic Information Systems. He managed a service station with his dad and later worked several years at Cenex Land O' Lakes in sales and service. He retired from Noren Transport as a mechanic and bus driver. Steve's family was his life. He married his soulmate Rae Delle (Berzinski) on September 4, 1982 and together they were blessed with four wonderful daughters; Amy (Jeff) Swanson, Bethany (Janine) Nelson-Gallo, Cala (JC) Poppe, and Dana (Ryan) Wolfe. He loved his grandchildren with his whole heart; Rayna, Jaren, Salem, Brody, Reagan, Elliot, Miles, and Reece. Steve is also survived by his brother Rick (Lisa) Nelson and in-laws; June, Rita (Bruce), Lynn (Mike), Peggy (Gary), Butch (Pam), Mark (Heidi), Betsy (Mike), Brian (Rachel), Marie, Linda and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was the best "grand-daddy" to Wendy Grace. Steve was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings; Mike Nelson and Ruth Ann "Tuti" Nelson. Steve was quiet and gentle, with a quick wit and great sense of humor which will be greatly missed. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 21st from 1-5 pm at The Town of Preston Hall, 1102 E. Broadway St. Blair. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Blair-Preston Fire Department & First Responders, Gundersen Tri-County Memorial Hospital Foundation, and the Rita Tranberg Memorial.
