Obituary

Stanley B. Rothe, age 93 years, died on January 29, 2012 in Newnan, GA. He was born on December 9, 1918 in Rice Lake to Leo and Rose (Udelhofen) Rothe. Stan served in the US Army Air Corps earning the rank of Cpl. Serving during World War II from December 15, 1941 until November 7, 1945. He attended Airplane Mechanic School in California before being shipped out, he was with the 36th Repair Squadron serving in England, Algiers, Africa and Naples, Italy. While in Africa he received the Purple Heart. Stan was united in marriage to Avis Fredrickson on July 19, 1948, she preceded him in death on August 13, 1974, he then married Beverly Revels on August 6, 1976 and she preceded him in death on February 24, 2011. Stan owned and operated "Rothe's Refrigeration" in Wisconsin Dells until his retirement in 1985. He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he was a trustee, usher, elder and greeter, once he moved to Portage he was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church helping with the Corner Stone, attended bible classes, and being an usher. Stan also belonged to the Senior Citizens Club and to the Portage VFW # 1707. Survivors include Daughter - Terri Halligan of Sharpsburg, GA, Step-Daughter - Candace (Carl) Baumgart of Reedsburg and Step-Son James (Mary Jo) Revels of Portage, 3 Grandchildren - Brenda, Donna and Glenn, 4 Step-Grandchildren - Katherine, Matthew, Nicholas and John, 7 Great Grandchildren - Angel, Joshua, Kacie, Zachery, Houston, Briar and Aliyah , 3 Great Great Grandson - Dylan, Trevor and Bryce, and nieces, nephews and other relatives. Besides both wives, he was preceded in death by his parents, a son - Duane, 3 sisters - Stella Benda, Helen Pisha and Ruth Campbell, brother - Lee Rothe and a great grandchild - Emily Stewart. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 11:00 AM at St. John's Lutheran Church, Portage with Rev. Alan Boeck and Rev. Dennis Schueler Co-officiating followed by military rites. Burial will be held at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Tomah. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9 AM until 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to "Expanding God's Love" at St. John's Lutheran Church or the Alzheimer's Association. Service Details.
