Obituary

Sharon Lynne Schroeder (Danz Behnke) HARRISVILLE-Sharon Lynne Schroeder, was lifted by angels to eternal life on August 11 after a brave battle with cancer.   On January 27, 1943, the world blessed Oscar and Dolores (Hoessel) Danz with daughter Sharon, the eldest of four children. She grew up in Cross Plains, where she was confirmed at St. Martin's Lutheran Church. She had a deep Christian faith and treasured God's creatures great and small. As a young girl she raised rabbits and loved riding her mare Princess on Pete & Gertie Faust's farm just outside of town.  After graduating Middleton High School, she worked at Decar and Graber's in Middleton. Married life took her to rural Portage, where she and Charles Behnke farmed and raised six children. Through the years she worked in Portage at Spurgeon's, Piggly Wiggly, Pick N'Save, and RayOVac. Sharon and Roy Schroeder married in 1997, and shared the hobby of raising sheep and breeding exotic birds on their farmette in Harrisville. Like her father, Sharon had a true passion for gardening and a quirky sense of humor. (A favorite saying: "I laughed so hard the tears ran down my leg.") Her skills and creativity as a seamstress were unsurpassed, from bridal party dresses to the fine quilts she handmade for loved ones.   Sharon's love for family was boundless. She was predeceased by her parents, daughter Candace, and son Brent. She is survived by her husband Roy; daughter Dayna Wegenke (Jay) and children Andrew (Nikki), Brandon (Janet), and Candace (Shane) Raimer; daughter Heather Weinberger (Darren) and children Jesse Behnke, Emily "June" (Reidar) and Danielle Opsal, Ty and Hope Ryan; son Charles Michael (Kelly) and son Calvin; daughter Nicole (Eric Klawitter) and children Khloe and Kameron; and son Brent's children Taylor and Dylan Behnke. Sharon's first great-grandson is expected in November to mom Danielle.   She is further survived by great-grandchildren Hayden, Kara, Bria, and Novaleigh, by 8 step-grandchildren and their significant others, by brothers Randy (Mareia) and Brad (Jean), sister Dawn Danz-Hale (Mark), nieces and nephews, first husband Charles Behnke, and special friends Joannie Faust Long and Linda Lynch.   We will gather to honor Sharon's life on Saturday, August 19, 2017.  A service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Kratz Funeral Home, Portage, officiated by Pastor Dominic Thoman (Douglas Bible Church), Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home(www.kratzfuneralhome)   We hold dear our many memories Sharon, Mom, MamaHoney, Sis.
