Rose Arlene Barton, age 81 years, died on Friday, March 11, 2011 at the Columbia County Health Care in Wyocena where she was a resident for the last 7 years. She was born on May 23, 1929 in the Town of Fort Winnebago to Leo and Lillian (Wagner) Gavinski. She was united in marriage to Lloyd Barton on June 13, 1947 in Des Moines, Iowa; he preceded her in death in August 1991. She was a cook at Indian Echo's for 16 years and then Sharenberg for 5 years. Survivors include 2 Sons - Ted (Sandy) Barton of Portage and Dan (JoAnn) Barton of Pardeeville; Daughter - Barbara (Merle) Holmes of Portage; 11 Grandchildren - Lori (Paul) Hartman, Angie Berry, Julie Barton, Audrey Kreklow, Mike (Julie) Barton, Bobbie Jo Tracy, Terry (Michael Smith) Barton, Sue (Jay) Mork, John Barton, Tony Barton and Brenda Barton; 22 Great Grandchildren; 11 Brothers and Sisters - Leona (Ray) Schwantz of Whitewater, Don (Andrea) Gavinski of Poynette, Anne (Gordon) Parchem of Baraboo, Paul (Jean) Gavinski of Portage, Joe Gavinski of Portage, Pat (Roger) Curtis of Poynette, Kathi (Rich) Thompson of Pardeeville, Al (Pat) Gavinski of Portage, Tony (Jeri) Gavinski of Fort Atkinson, Marti Davenport of Montana and Mary McCalester of North Carolina; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Son - Harold and a Grandson - Brian. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at 1:00 PM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Portage with Father James Murphy officiating. Burial will be held at the Briggsville Protestant Cemetery, Briggsville at a later date. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 11:30 AM until 1:00 PM.
