Obituary

Robert Leslie Workman, Jr., age 93 of Madison and formerly of Portage, died on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at the VA Hospital in Madison. He was born on November 30 1919 in Hewitt, MN to Robert and Matilda (Moodie) Workman.   Robert grew up in Hewitt, MN and after graduating from Dunwoody Institute he moved to Tipton, IA to work as a linotype operator for the Tipton Conservative. He entered the US Army in April 1942 and served in the infantry until December 1945. He was united in marriage to Evelyn Sindt on July 17, 1943 in Lacrosse. Robert and his wife operated an ice cream shop in Tipton, later he worked as a linotype operator for the Racine Journal Times, also Town & Country Printers in Columbus and Petersen Press in Appleton before retiring to Portage in 1990.   Survivors include his loving wife of 69 years Evelyn, of Madison, son Steve (Margot) Workman of Naples, FL, their children Kate and Lindsay, daughter Roxanne (Alan) Glick of Madison, their children David (Carrie) Glick and Cassie (Joe) Cordy, two great grandchildren, Duke and Diesel Cordy. He was preceded in death by his parents, 6 sisters and a brother.   Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 3 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 542 Pleasant View Rd., Middleton, WI 53562. Friends may call at the Kingdom Hall on Saturday from 2 to 3 pm. Burial will be at the Oak Grove Cemetery, Portage.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Workman family. Service Details.
