Robert "Bob" F. Longfield, age 80, of Oxford passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2013 after a long illness, at Divine Savior Hospital in Portage. Bob was born in Madison, WI on February 1, 1933 at St. Mary's Hospital to LeRoy & Mintabelle "Babe" (Norris) Longfield. Bob went to Frank Allis Grade School & graduated from Madison East High, where he played football & basketball. He attended the University of Wisconsin and Minnesota and received an Associate's Degree from Wisconsin Electronics Institute in 1958. Bob served in the Navy as an electrician during the Korean Conflict a.k.a. Police Action and was in active duty in Japan & Korea. He served on the USS Laertes (AR20) Auxiliary Repair Ship. He continued in the reserves for an additional four years. His rating at the time of discharge was Electrician 2nd Class Petty Officer. He received two Honorable Discharges. Bob worked at Honeywell Minneapolis as an Electro/Mechanical Technician. He then changed his occupation to Technical Writing, left Honeywell & moved back to Madison to work for Ohmeda. He began work in Service Training holding positions from Technical writing to Manager of Technical Writing and Manager of Service Education until he retired. He was an amateur artist, dabbling in sculpting, oil & water colors, woodcarving & airbrush work. Bob had 6 children by his first wife, Joyce (Hoppe) Longfield. He later married Mary Jane (Blumer) Endsley on Dec 13, 1980. No children from that union. Mary Jane has a daughter from a previous marriage, Dianne E. Endsley. Bob is survived by his wife, Mary Jane, 6 children, Diane, James, Cris, Rita, David, Lynn and a step daughter Dianne Endsley, brother Bill (Lynn) Longfield, of Wilton, WI, sister, Barbara (Tom) Jensen of Friendship WI, 7 grand children, 8 great grand children, many nieces & nephews, cousins, friends and his ex-wife Joyce. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, many aunts & uncles, cousins and two nephews. Per Bob's request, there will be no funeral or memorial services.
