Robert Melvin Hoffer age 80 of Portage, Wi passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at Tivoli in Portage, WI surrounded by his close family. Robert was born on September 5, 1938 in Portage, WI to Melvin and Mae (Annis) Hoffer. Robert married Marie Ableman on September 16, 1961 in St. John's Lutheran Church in Portage. Bob was a lifelong musician, having a passion for playing the drums, playing with the Orbits and several other dance bands in the area. Bob was very involved at St. John's Lutheran Church, was in the Army National Guard and was very involved in the portage community. Bob always put his family first. Robert is survived by his Loving wife Marie of Portage, WI; Daughters Kim McCourtney of Minneapolis, MN; Debbie (Elek) Nagy of Portage; grandchildren Ashley Farr and Kristen Griffey; one great granddaughter Ava Griffey. Bob is also survived by a brother Marvin (Phyllis) Hoffer of Fort Atkinson and a sister Kathy (Robert) Cuff of Portage, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Robert is preceded in death by his parents and a sister Darlene Packard. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 17, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Portage, WI with Pastor Greg Hovland officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00a.m. until 11:00 am on Monday prior to the service at church. Burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery in Portage with military Honors provided by the Portage Area Honor Guard following the service.
