Obituary

RICHARD "DICK" KAMINSKI Richard "Dick " Kaminski, 72, a resident of Roswell, New Mexico and former resident of Beaver Dam, WI, died on April 1, 2012 at Roswell Regional Hospital. Dick was born the son of Max and Ethel (O'Laughlin) Kaminski on January 14, 1940 in Beaver Dam.   Dick was a 1958 graduate of Randolph High School. He served in the US Army in the United States and Germany from 1958-1961. He was employed at Metalfab, Inc, in Beaver Dam for 30 years until his retirement.   Dick moved to Roswell, New Mexico in 1995 and was very involved in advocacy efforts for disabled members of the community. He was appointed a commissioner to the Governor's Commission on Disability and worked tirelessly to upgrade building codes to reflect accessibility for people with mobility impairments. His efforts resulted in the many accessible sidewalks and streets of Roswell. Dick will be missed in the disability and community at large for his efforts and outspoken advocacy. He also served as Executive Director of the nonprofit organization, Choices for Independent Living and as Vice Chair of the Democratic Party of Chavez County.   Dick is survived by his daughter Brenda (Michael) Quincy of Burlington, NC; sons John (Maria) Kaminski of Thornton, CO, Joseph Kaminski and James Kaminski, both of Beaver Dam; granddaughter Morgan Kaminski of Beaver Dam; brother Robert (Roxanne) Kaminski of Oak Creek; sisters, Rosemary (Richard) Minnema of Portage and Kathryn Schoemann of Mayville; and sister-in-law Mary Kaminski of Randolph; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers - William, Jerome and Bernard Kaminski.   A memorial service was held in Roswell, NM on April 6, 2012. Inurnment will be held on April 26, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Annunciation Catholic Cemetery in Randolph, WI with Sister Dorothy Ann Jackson officiating. A luncheon will follow at Feil's Supper Club.
