Portage, WI Phyllis Leone (Raimer) Martin, age 95 of Portage died on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at the Columbia Health Care Center in Wyocena. She was born September 2, 1919 in the City of Portage, Columbia County to Harry and Goldabelle (Neale) Raimer. Phyllis "ran away" to Dubuque, Iowa, with Leo R. Martin- the love of her life- where they were united in marriage on December 23, 1939. They celebrated 71 years together before his death in 2011. Phyllis had various short term jobs, but centered her life around her husband and children. She was very proud of her years as a school crossing guard at the library corner. She loved helping and talking with the many generations of kids that fondly called her "Mabel". A favorite memory of hers was traveling as a Safety Patrol Chaperone on one of the annual Washington D.C. trips. Always a very social person, Phyllis formed many close and caring relationships with neighbors and friends over the years. Phyllis is survived by four children Barbara (Jerome) Peterson of Pardeeville; Linda (Larry) Tessman of Portage; Russell Martin of Portage; Ronald Martin of Pardeeville; eight grandchildren, Jill Peterson, Brenda Peterson-Price , Richard (Kim) Peterson, Ryan (Mary Friend) Peterson, Kelly Tessman (Jake) Schaller, Michael (Samantha Reichert) Tessman, Paige Martin, Julie Martin; nine great grandchildren Emily Price, Courtney and Brooke Peterson, Lakota, Allyson and Jack Brenner and Braden, Bennett and Bailey Schaller, a sister-in-law Rosemary Martin. Phyllis is preceded in death by her husband, parents, grandparents, a twin brother and a grandson Nathan Tessman Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2015 in the Picha Funeral Home-Portagewww.pichafh.com with Rev. David Hankins officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 till time of service. Burial will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery.
