Myrle L. Barry, age 85 years of Portage, died on Thursday, August 11, 2011 at the Golden Years Assisted Living in Pardeeville where she had been a resident for the past 3 years. She was born on December 26, 1925 in Poynette to Addison and Florence (Murray) Sloggy. Myrle began working as a cook in Briggsville at Clark's Inn, and other restaurant's including Porter House, Red Wagon, Elks Club and retired from the Blankenhaus. She attended the Grace Bible Church, enjoyed baking, cooking, gardening, flowers, animals, playing euchre. She will be remembered for her cinnamon rolls and delicious pies. One of her great joys was preparing meals for her family and friends, where there was never a shortage of food. Survivors include her Daughter, Donna Jean (Ed) Ullrich of Pardeeville; Grandchildren - Angela (Tom) Dean of Portage, Mark Ullrich of Wyocena and Tim Stowers of Wisconsin Dells; Great Grandchildren - Kyle and Kassandra Stowers; Brother - Wayne Sloggy of Portage; Sister in law - Betty (Don) Levzow of Portage; Special cousin - Faith and Lyle Rhodes of Brookfield; Special Nephew - Steven Sloggy and other nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her daughter - Sandra Coffman in October 2000, granddaughter - Bonnie Stowers in February 1997, her parents and a sister - Fern Kendall. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 14, 2011 at 1:30 PM at the Picha Funeral Home, Portage with Rev. Mike Gormican officiating. Burial will follow at the Silver Lake Cemetery, Portage. Friends may call at the Picha Funeral Home, Portage on Sunday from Noon until 1:30 PM.
