Obituary

Mitchel O. Wold, age 56 years, passed away on December 7, 2011 at Divine Savior Healthcare in Portage after a short battle with cancer. He was born on July 26, 1955 in Monona to Carl and Madelyn Wold. Mitchel attended Monona Grove High School and then went into the Marine Corps and was honorably discharged in 1982. After his military duties were complete, Mitchel returned to the Monona area to pursue a career with Philip Morris. He then settled in Portage and after his career with Philip Morris ended because of health issues, he then became known as "Mitch in the Morning" at WDDC where he had a radio show on Sunday mornings. Mitchel was also owner and operator of A Friend With a Truck Moving and Hauling until his passing. He was very artistic and was critical of each beautiful piece he created in intarsia and stained glass. Remembering his days in the Marine Corps always brought a smile to his face. He was a very proud Marine. He will be sorely missed by all. Survivors include his mother - Madelyn; a son - Tyler; and a daughter - Rose Marie. He was preceded in death by his father Carl; a brother Michael and an infant brother. His sister, Karen passed away on February 1, 2012. A celebration of Mitchel's life will be held at COTTONWOOD BAR AND GRILL, 312 DeWitt St., Portage on Saturday, February 25, 2012 from 12 Noon until 4 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. "ONCE A MARINE, ALWAYS A MARINE" Service Details.
