Max Merwin Sainsbury, age 77 years of Montello died on Thursday, November 28, 2013 at Tivoli at Divine Savior in Portage. He was born on February 24, 1936 in Portage to Max and Ida (Grover) Sainsbury. Max grew up in Endeavor, moved to Janesville where he had worked at General Motors for 30 years and moved back to Montello a few years ago. He enjoyed hunting, taxidermy and music. Max also proudly served in the United States Army. Survivors include two children, Wayne (Leslie) Sainsbury of Janesville and Tammie (Allan) Maxwell of Wausau, mother of his two children, Berniece Fosnow, 5 grandchildren, Nicholas (Renee) Sainsbury, Brooke Sainsbury, Amanda (Tony) Mulry, Spencer Maxwell and Madison Maxwell, 4 great grandchildren, Alexis, Savannah, Devon and Mason, 3 sisters, Joyce Paske of Portage, Nova (Ken) Kyburz of East Troy and Reva (Darwin) Barren of Endeavor, 2 sisters in law, Emma Sainsbury of Portage and Carol Sainsbury of Edgerton and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Herbert and James. Memorial services will be held on Monday, December 2, 2013 at 1:00 PM at the Moundville United Methodist Church with Pastor Julie Wilson officiating. Inurnment with military rites by the Portage area veterans will follow in the Moundville Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Monday from Noon until 1:00 PM. Service Details. Visitation
