Marvin Simonson, a lifelong Lewiston Township resident, passed away on September 27, 2018 at Tivoli Nursing Home in Portage, Wisconsin at the age of 85. Marvin was born on April 29, 1933. He grew up on the family farm where he lived until his early twenties. He served two years in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany. He married Beverly Ann Seiler on September 19, 1959. They moved to a little 2-acre plot of land, out on County O in Portage, where they raised two children, Ann and Arnold. Early in his life, He worked as a mechanic in the army, at "Cuff's Mobil, and at Wagner Implement, the local John Deere dealership, then he moved on to Big Joe MFG in Wisconsin Dells where he rebuilt forklift trucks for over 30 years, until his retirement in 1998. Marvin always liked farming, and if things would have worked out differently he might have taken over the family farm and been content to just farm the rest of his life. Just because he only lived on two acres didn't mean he couldn't raise animals. At any given time, there were usually 50 to 200 animals on the place, including Ducks, Geese, Chickens, Turkeys, Goats, Rabbits, Horses, Calves, Etc.. Marvin was constantly helping his brother Chester on the farm, when time allowed. His daughter Ann took care of his until she died in 2005, and soon after, he became a resident at Divine Savior nursing Home. Once he became a resident, two things became obvious. One, he had a sense of humor that was constantly popping his head up, and two, he loved wii bowling. In fact, it got to the point where he had trouble finding people to play with because they said he always seemed to win. Marvin is survived by his son Arnold Simonson, Lewiston Township, three brother-in-Laws, Ray, Harold and Herb Seiler, three sister-in-law Sue Doyle., Linda Seiler and Eileen Seiler. He is preceded in death by his wife Beverly, his daughter Ann, brother Chester, two sisters, Violet Simonson and Delila Bolgrin and three brothers-in-law Floyd Bolgrin and Charles and Gary Seiler.
