Obituary

Marlene Mae Poppie age 80 of Portage, Wi died on July 3, 2017 at Tivoli in Portage, WI. Marlene was born on October 29, 1936 to Dallas and Marguriete (Nitz) Johnson. She married Earl James "Jim" Poppie on December 19, 1951 in Mason City, Iowa. Marlene was active in the Briggsville community. She was a member of the Red Hat Ladies, threw horse shoes for Foxy's  in Briggsville for several years, enjoyed playing cards and always loved a good party. Marlene enjoyed her Packers, and Loved her dog Kady Lynn. For many years Marlene enjoyed traveling out west and all the west coast to relax and visit family. Marlene is survived by her son James (Lori) of Mayville, WI; daughter Margaret (Bob) Wagner of Grand Marsh, WI; daughter JoAnn Poppie of Boise, Idaho; Son Michael  Poppie of Everett Wash;  Son Tom (Will Lansbury) Poppie of Everett, Wash. ; Brother Wayne (Beverly) Johnson of Portage, WI; and  Aunt Larryne Crawford of Portage, WI and is also survived by many grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews. Marlene was preceded in death by her parents and husband Jim, and special pet dog Kady Lynn Poppie. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at the Briggsville Protestant Cemetery in Briggsville, WI,  Nancy Gerike will be officiating. Following the service family and friends can gather at the Briggsville American Legion Hall in Briggsville, WI. Special thanks to Tivoli and to Agrace Hospice for the care that they gave our Mom. Memorials may be given in Marlene's name to a charity of your choice. Kratz Funeral Home (www.kratzfuneralhome.com is assisting the family with arrangements. Service Details.
