MARJORIE E. REDSTEN Marjorie E. Redsten, 93, formerly of Blair, died on March 13, 2015 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center. Marjorie was born on February 7, 1922, to Oscar and Agnes (Linderud) Mason. She was baptized February 28, 1922 in the French Creek Lutheran Church, Ettrick, and confirmed May 10, 1936 in Zion Lutheran Church, Blair. She married Allen H. Redsten on July 22, 1943 at Zion Lutheran Church, Blair. Allen preceded her in death on October 25, 1991. Marjorie attended Blair High School and graduated in 1939. She attended Winona Business College and worked at Modern Life Insurance Company in Winona. When the company moved to St. Paul, she moved there and continued to work for the company. In 1943 Allen and Marjorie purchased the French Creek Lutheran parsonage consisting of a home and forty acres. In 1967 they purchased and moved to Allen's home farm in French Creek. Allen worked at Trane Company in La Crosse for thirty years. Marjorie sold the farm in 2000 and moved to Blair. Marjorie was a member of French Creek Lutheran Church, Ettrick, where she taught Sunday School, was a member of the W-ELCA and its Circles, and served on the Board of the Endowment Foundation. She was also a member of the Sons of Norway Fagernes Lodge 5-616. Marjorie and Allen enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and neighbors, and traveling in the U.S. and Norway. Marjorie will be remembered for her hard work on the farm, and her love for church and community. Some may remember when she was a guest on the popular television series "Queen for a Day". She enjoyed shopping for fashions, make-up, and jewelry, and was an avid reader of the Wall Street Journal. Marjorie is survived by sister-in-law Lillie Haugen, King; sister-in-law Carole Sylvester, Duluth; brother-in-law Bernard Redsten, Eleva; and nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her husband Allen, her parents, step-father Oscar Haugen, step-brother Hiram Haugen, and grandparents preceded her in death. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 19 at French Creek Lutheran Church, Ettrick with burial in French Creek Lutheran Cemetery. The Rev. Anna Sorenson will officiate. Friends may call from 5 - 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18 at Blair Community Center and again one hour before the time of service at the church. Memorials to honor Mrs. Redsten may be directed to French Creek Endowment Foundation or French Creek Lutheran Church. The Allen and Marjorie Redsten Endowment Fund will continue to enrich the lives of many and generously benefit churches and the communities of Ettrick and Blair.
