Mabel Irene Magaw, age 82 years, of Portage died on Thursday, April 29, 2010 at the Divine Savior Extended Care in Portage. She was born on April 29, 1928 in Beaver, Ohio to Vancil and Anna (Webb) Magaw. Mabel had served in the Women's Army Corp for 8 years, worked in Washington DC, worked for Highlights for Children Magazine, and also enjoyed painting. She had lived in Ohio, Maryland and has lived in Portage since 1985. Survivors include Sister - Janet (Magaw) Horton of Xenia, Ohio; Brother - Charles Magaw; Sister in law - Jean Magaw of Middleton, Ohio; 3 Nieces - Linda Herron of Bridgeville, PA, Kathy Horton of West Carrollton, Ohio, and Jayne Magaw of Trenton, Ohio; Nephew - Mike Magaw of Trenton, Ohio and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her partner and companion of 51 years - Dorothy Jerrison, Brother - Arnold Magaw, 2 Nephews - Jeffrey Magaw and David Horton and Niece - Cynthia Horton. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at 1:30 PM at the Picha Funeral Home, Portage with Rev. Thomas Moe officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Portage.
