Obituary

Lorraine (Lori) Elizabeth Phillips, 57, passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 in Madison, Wisconsin after a long and difficult battle with cancer. Even in the darkest days of her battle, Lori's spirit never faltered.

Lori was born in Eau Claire, Wisconsin on February 9, 1968 to Judith (Market) and Michael Phillips. Lori was an adventurer from a young age and even found herself joining the boy scouts as a child when the girl scouts was not an option for her (to the great dismay of her brothers). Lori was never afraid of being the only woman in a man's world, something that would come in handy as she grew her career in science and engineering.

Lori started her family at a young age and in many ways grew up alongside her children. We can say she 'grew up', but Lori remained a child at heart throughout her life. She loved to dance and sing, to play games, to paint, and to ride the rollercoasters until her voice was hoarse from screaming. Lori had a laugh that rang out above a crowd, a love of stories, and the ability to make friends wherever she went. Of all the joys in her life, her greatest joy was her family. She loved her four daughters fiercely and would do anything for them, something she proved many times throughout her life. Lori's second greatest joy was the Green Bay Packers, and (while many claim the honor) she was truly their number one fan. As her daughters grew up, Lori was able to pursue her passion in science with a degree in Nanoscience Technology. She began a whole new career at the age of 41. Little did she know, this new career would also lead her to the love of her life, Tim Palzkill, when she landed a lead role at Cummins in Stoughton, Wisconsin, where Tim also worked. With Tim, Lori took up much more adventurous hobbies like hunting wild bear and homesteading at remote hunting locations. Lori and Tim were married in 2021 at a beautiful ceremony in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Yes, there was fishing involved.

Lori is survived by her husband, Tim Palzkill; daughters, Heather (Mathew) Lansing, Ember (Nicholas) Endle, Vanessa (Micheal Gonsolin) Loew, and Gabrielle (Stephen) Lago; mother Judith Phillips; nine grandchildren, Janessa, Dominick, Micheal, Jayden, Phoebe, Sebastian, Samuel, Cordelia, and Zachary; brothers Ken Phillips and Don (Julie) Phillips.

Lori is preceded in death by her father, Michael Phillips.
