Lorain Elmer Kenyon, age 86 years, died on Sunday, April 24, 2011 at the Tivoli Care Center in Portage. He was born on April 17, 1925 in Unity, WI to Edward and Edna (Fuller) Kenyon. Lorain attended schools at Unity, WI and Spencer, WI graduating in 1944. He came to visit an aunt in Portage and got a job at A & P where he worked until joining the United States Army in January 1949. Upon returning he went to work for Moore's World Foods until 1977 when Burnstad's took over and worked there until his retirement in 1990. Later he was a greeter at Walmart and had also worked at the Market Basket. On June 12, 1954, Lorain was united in marriage to Meryle Evelyn Pulver; she preceded him in death on March 17, 1991. Survivors include 2 Daughters - Kristine Colt of Portage and Diane Kenyon of Portage; 3 Grandsons - Chad (Laura) Colt, Shain Colt and Kevin Kenyon. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, Son in Law - David F. Colt, 5 brothers and 3 sisters. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 1:00 PM at the Portage United Methodist Church with Rev. Tom Countryman officiating followed by military rites. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from Noon until 1:00 PM. Interment will be private at a later date.
