Kathie Ann Barfknecht, 65 years of Portage died on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at her residence. She was born on December 18, 1947 in Shell Lake, WI.  Kathie grew up in the Shell Lake area and moved to Portage in 1979 where she was employed by Ray O Vac. She was an avid Packer fan as well as a great companion to her 3 fuzzy friends, Mama, Nuisance and Black Rat. In her younger years Kathie enjoyed ceramics, crocheting and knitting. Survivors include her three children, Robyn Poulson of Baraboo, Dawn Poulson of Isanti, MN and Michael (Christine) Barfknecht of Montello; 7 grandchildren Timothy, Krystle, Michelle, Nathan, Victoria, Shawn and Hallie, siblings Kenneth (Carlyn) Utt of Montello, Linda (Conrad) Beckstrom of Las Vegas, Thomas (Sherry) Weston of Menasha, Debbie Velasquez of Waukesha and Penny (Steven) Fredrick of East Troy and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Shirley and Marv Volkmann and two nephews Ronny Utt and Adam Weston. A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2013 from 11 AM until 1 PM at the Picha Funeral Home, Portage.
