John M. DeKeyrel, 54, of Portage, passed away peacefully Oct. 27, 2017. John was born Jan. 26, 1963, in La Crosse, to Thomas and Jackie DeKeyrel. He is survived by his loving wife, Julie, and her daughter, Emma Hagen; step-daughters, Tammy Malone (Quinn) and Keeley Goldthorpe (Jon); grandchildren, Thomas Shortreed and Brynna Malone; mother, Jackie DeKeyrel; sisters, Sherri McDermet (Dan) and Kathy Allen (Devin); other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas DeKeyrel; sister, Babette Steers; and previous wife, Kathy (Kreier) DeKeyrel. John was a mechanic and the proprietor of J&K Auto for more than 25 years. He loved just about any project he could get his hands on. Cars, bikes, RC anything, loud music, friends and family (furry included) were a few of his favorite things. Please join us in celebrating John's life on Sunday, Nov. 12, at Kratz Funeral Home, 302 E. Conant St., Portage.
