Obituary

James A. Yonkie, age 70, of Pardeeville, Wisconsin, passed away on February 28, 2026 at Aspirus Divine Savior Hospital in Portage, Wisconsin. James was born on December 6, 1955 in Portage, the son of Albert and Virginia (Falk) Yonkie.

James loved his Harley Davidson “Elizabeth” and was known to his Vision Riders biker club brothers as “Crazy.” He spent the first half of his working career as a mechanic and the most recent 27 years as a self-employed private investigator for Fresh Start Investigations. James also supported the community by teaching hunters’ safety for the last 25 years, supporting many good works with the Vision Riders, and helping others in need throughout his lifetime.

James is survived by his four brothers: Terry (Brenda) Yonkie, Steven Yonkie, Michael Yonkie, and Daniel (Vicki) Yonkie; his children: David Knutson, Jamie (Timothy) Dreger, James M. Yonkie, and Amber Crye; and many grandkids, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Virginia Yonkie.

Burial will take place at Pacific Cemetery on Saturday, May 23, 2026 at 11:30 AM, followed by a Celebration of Life from 12:30-3:00 PM in honor of James at the Portage VFW Post 1707.

James will be remembered for his humor, kindness and compassion, and the way he protected those he loved and cared about.
