James David Lewer, age 84 years, of Wauwatosa died on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at Divine Savior Hospital in Portage. He was born on February 5, 1926 in DeForest, Wi to Max and Edla (Davidson) Lewer. He was united in marriage to Shirley Justmann on September 25, 1948 at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. He has lived in Milwaukee, Brookfield and in Wauwatosa for the last 37 years and also enjoyed vacationing at their summer residence in Westfield. James had owned a Pure Oil Station, was a mechanic and enjoyed home remodeling. He was also a tinkerer, a jack of all trades and loved playing cards. James also served in the US Army during World War II. Survivors include his Wife Shirley of 61 years; 5 Children - Lynn (David) McFarland of West Bend, Jean (Richard) Nero of Brookfield, Lori Putnins (Bud Baker) of West Allis, David (Patty) Lewer of Muskego and Daniel Lewer of Lake Tomahawk; 11 Grandchildren - Shawn, Bryan, Kelli, Tiffany, Amy, Amber, Jeremy, Jason, Stacie, Nicole and Brittney; 18 Great Grandchildren; Sister - Elaine Pierce of Brookfield and Two Brothers - Luther Lewer of Wauwatosa and Max Arnold Lewer of Pewaukee and other relatives, friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother in law - William Pierce. Memorial service will be held at Hales Corners Lutheran Chapel, 5425 South 111th Street, Hales Corners, WI 53130 on Wednesday, September 8 at 5 PM. Visitation at 4 PM until time of service.
