Jacob James Lichman SR, age 82 years of Portage died on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at the UW Hospital in Madison. He was born on September 17, 1931 in Mason City, Iowa to Pete and Lydia (Groff) Lichman. Jim was united in marriage to Ivalee Findling on November 10, 1953 in Mason City, Iowa; she preceded him in death on September 15, 2011. He was a truck driver for Montgomery Ward for many years before his retirement. In later years Jim and Lee enjoyed touring the country together, taking a trip around the United States borders and coastline on their 1985 Honda Goldwing. Jim loved a good game of poker, enjoyed going out to dinner and reveled in a good joke. Jim also proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War, stationed in Germany. Survivors include 3 sons, Jim (Gale) Lichman of Fond du Lac, Rick (Barbara) Lichman of Muskego and Jay (Kathy) Lichman of Portage, 1 daughter, Cathy (Dennis) Ballweg of Columbus, grandchildren, Sarah, Annie, Jay, Brenda, Eric, Ben, Luke, Chris, Jake & Samantha, 4 foster grandson's, Khvyn, Chee, Teeley & Tom, and 11 beloved great grandchildren. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers, Peter, Joe and Donald. Memorial service will be held on Friday, October 11, 2013 at 6:00 PM at the River of Life Church, 102 West Franklin St, Portage with Pastor Bob Turner officiating.
