Henry Olin Staveness, age 92 years, of Portage died on Monday, October 31, 2011 at the Columbia County Health Care in Wyocena. He was born on April 28, 1919 in Rio, the 1st generation born in the United States, to John and Ella (Lerum) Staveness. Henry was united in marriage to Maida Severson on June 23, 1951 in Columbus; she preceded him in death on October 26, 1992. He has lived in Portage for many years where he worked at NAPA Auto Parts for over 27 years and enjoyed reading and gardening. Henry was a long time member of the Bonnet Prairie Lutheran Church. Survivors include Three Children - Sandy (Dr. Michael) McManus of North Carolina, Lorin (Kristal) Staveness of Portage and Thomas (Kelly) Staveness of Portage; 5 Grandchildren - Amy Hutchinson, Jennifer Staveness, Jamie Staveness, Thomas J. Staveness and Patricia Tessmer; 2 Step Grandchildren - Shaina Schrank and Kyle Schrank; 9 Great Grandchildren; Nieces and Nephews, and cousins still in Norway. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and 6 brothers and their wives. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 4, 2011 at Noon at the Bonnet Prairie Lutheran Church, rural Rio with Rev. Joan Wittrock officiating. Burial will follow in the Bonnet Prairie Lutheran Cemetery, rural Rio. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 10 AM until Noon. Service Details.
