Helen Ruth Schumann, age 85 years, of Pardeeville, died on Friday, May 20, 2011 at the Columbia County Health Care Center in Wyocena. She was born on November 30, 1925 in Portage to Harry and Ruth (Killoran) Fahey. Helen was united in marriage on March 8, 1947 to Alonzo Schumann at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Portage; he preceded her in death on April 3, 1993. She has lived in the Portage/Pardeeville area where she was a homemaker, member of St. John's Lutheran Church and Bible Study, Ladies Auxiliary # 1707, enjoyed baking, quilting, gardening, fishing, hunting and especially family vacations and gatherings. Survivors include 8 children - Joyce (Phillip) Kleist of Pardeeville, Robert (Lael) Schumann of Pardeeville, James (Julie) Schumann of Portage, William (Debra) Schumann of Pardeeville, Kenneth (Babette) Schumann of Pardeeville, Gerald Schumann of Pardeeville, Larry (Kim) Schumann of Portage and Jean (Paul) Gavinski of Portage; 13 Grandchildren; 14 Great Grandchildren; Brother - William (Jan) Fahey of Phillips, WI; 2 Sisters - Phyllis Stanley of Portage and Ruthann Helmann of Portage; Brother in law - Donald Schumann; Sister in law - Dorothy Schumann; Cousins, Nieces, Nephews and other dear relatives and friends. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant Daughter - Carol, Granddaughter - Bretta Mootz, Great Grandson - Myles Schumann, 2 Brothers - Joseph and Thomas Fahey, sister in law - Nora Fahey and 2 brothers in law - Charles Stanley and William Helmann. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at 1:00 PM at the St. John's Lutheran Church, Portage with Rev. Alan Boeck and Rev. Dan Kelm co-officiating. Burial will be held at the Oak Grove Cemetery, Portage. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 11 AM until 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. John's Lutheran School or a charity of one's choice.
