PORTAGE -- George C. Pfaff, 85, of Portage, died peacefully Monday, Feb. 9, 2015, at Columbia Health Care Center in Wyocena. George was born Feb. 5, 1930, in Portage, to George C.F. and Minnie (Bulgrien) Pfaff. George served his county in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and also was a member of the Navy Reserve. George married Dorothy. then later married Sharon; both ended in divorce, but remained friends. George was employed at Portage Hosiery Company as a maintenance mechanic for 41 years. George was a member and elder of the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Portage. Later in life his hobbies included cooking at the VFW and he enjoyed baking. George was a member of the Briggsville American Legion, and was an avid bowler for more than 40 years. George is survived by his grandchildren, Cade and Cuyler Pfaff, and Alexis and Polaris Stancer. George adored everyday that was spent with his grandchildren. Survived also by a friend and mother of his grandchildren, Heather Stancer, step children William Atkinson, Naomi (Don Kruger) Fritz and five step grandchildren, a brother Wallace Pfaff, and a Yorkie, Zeus his companion for the last 15 years. George was preceded in death by his parents, son Craig, and a brother Donald. Funeral services will be held at noon Friday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Kurt Klingbeil officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service at noon at the church. Special thanks to Richard Voight and Dorothy Pfaff for remaining friends to the very end.
