George Joseph Pantel, age 86 years of Montello died on Monday, December 26, 2011 at the American Way in Portage. He was born on June 22, 1925 in Notre Dame, DeLourdes, Manitoba, Canada to Jean and Bertha (Delitre') Pantel. He has lived in the Montello area for many years where he worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad for 36 years as a ticket agent. He enjoyed the outdoors, loved walking especially with Charlie and Peanut, was a boy scout leader and a member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Survivors include 2 daughters - Marie Pritchard of Montello and Maryann Pantel of Kenosha; 1 son - Richard (Cheri) Pantel of Mount Ida, Arkansas; 6 Grandchildren - Carole Bauer, Gerald Pritchard, Shawna Pantel, Ignazio DeBartolo, DJ and Angela; 3 Great Grandchildren - Servando Martinez, Trey Reynolds and Gage Fuller; 1 brother - Auguste "Gus" Pantel of Notre Dame and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife - Frances, 6 brothers - Germain, Florent, Maurice, Victor, Emil and Charles; and 2 sisters - Georgette and Marieange. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at 11:00 am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Montello with Father Michael Richel officiating. Burial will follow in the St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Montello. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10 AM until 11 AM. Service Details.
