> Portage, WI Florence Elizabeth Baerwolf, age 95, Portage, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Columbia Health Care Center in Wyocena. > Florence Elizabeth (Paske) Baerwolf was born in Caledonia Township, Portage, WI on August 17, 1921 to Gustave and Elizabeth (Falk) Paske. She was baptized at home by Pastor Max Taras of St. Paul's Lutheran Church - Caledonia. > She was united in marriage to Albert H. Baerwolf on Feb. 7, 1942 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Portage. She has been a member of St. John's Lutheran Church since early childhood except for the 14 years she and her husband lived in Mesa, AZ. > They returned to their home state of Wisconsin in 1984. Albert preceded her in death on October 1, 2000 after 58 years of marriage. At St. John's she belonged to Luther Circle, Ladies Aid, Women's Guild and LWML. Florence was active in the sewing group that made quilts for L.W.R for several years. She also belonged to Columbia County Historical Society, Caledonia Neighborhood Club, Homemaker's Clubs and Columbia County Humane Society. > Florence worked at Divine Savior Hospital for 8 years. Leisure time was spent gardening, sewing and crafting. > The two most important things in Florence's life were her Lord Jesus Christ and her dear family. She looked forward to every special gathering and enjoyed many birthdays, weddings, anniversaries and holidays. There were always good times playing euchre and Yahtzee and she cherished these times with her son and his wife, her grandchildren and great grandchildren. > Florence is survived by her son Roger (Pat) Baerwolf of Portage, 4 grandchildren and many great grandchildren: Amy (Kraig) Windus, Ally and Sam; Emily (Joe) Janney, Liam and Finn; Megan (Ryan) Schroeder, Caitlyn and Henry; all of Portage; and Troy (Shannon) Baerwolf and their children; one special grand dog, Winnie; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. > Florence was preceded in death by her parents, husband Albert in 2000, and an infant son Larry. > Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 26, 2017 at the St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church in Portage, WI with Rev. Matthew Gehrke officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at the St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, in the township of Caledonia. > In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. John's Capital Improvement Fund or Playground Fund in Florence's name. > The Family would like to express their gratitude to the caregivers of CHCC in Wyocena and Agrace Hospice for their loving care and compassion for Florence at the end of her life.
