Evelyn Iola Hanson, age 93 of Portage died on Saturday, July 16, 2011 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 31, 1917 in Lake Delton to Ward and Cora Edna (Chapel) Booth. Evelyn had lived in Portage almost all her life where she graduated from Portage High School in 1934. She was united in marriage to Harold L. Hanson at the Methodist Church in Portage on July 3, 1939; he preceded her in death on October 16, 2000. Evelyn was a homemaker, had worked as a secretary at the Chick Hatchery, then had worked at the Weyenberg Shoe Factory and the Portage Hosiery. She was also a member of the Portage United Methodist Church, enjoyed square dancing, singing, sewing, cooking, had a true love for Portage and especially her love for her family. Survivors include 3 children - Harold "Larry" (Barbara) Hanson of Lakewood, Colo., Sally (Ed) Duquaine of West Bend and Patricia (Gerald) Murphy of Colgate, WI; 7 Grandchildren - Amy Gatto, Carrie (Chris) Rozek, Brent (Christa) Murphy, Lauri (Jeff) Sies, Sara (Daren) Liss, Jennifer (Doug) Ebert and David (Susan) Murphy; 15 Great Grandchildren - Harry and Joey Gatto, Sophie, Cameron and Mya Rozek, Jack and Katie Murphy, Ben, Caroline and Sam Sies, Brady and Ava Liss and Kylee, Garrett and Mollie Murphy; Brother - Richard (Sally) Booth of Portage; and Sister in law - Joyce Mountford of Portage. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, brother - Ward Booth JR and 2 sisters - Peggy Schmidt and Norma Richards. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2011 at 1:30 PM at the Picha Funeral Home, Portage with Rev. Tom Countryman officiating. Burial will follow at the Silver Lake Cemetery, Portage. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from Noon until 1:30 PM.
