Obituary

Evelyn A. (Dahlberg) Eich, 87 of Portage, WI died on Thursday, November 8, 2012 at the home of her daughter, Kristine. She was born on May 19, 1925 in Beloit, the daughter of Earnest C. and Alevia (Saunders) Dahlberg.   Evelyn was a graduate of Beloit Memorial High School, class of 1943. After graduation, she began a career of 43 years in the office of Freeman Shoe Company, retiring as the supervisor of the Data Entry Department. Evelyn married Robert Eich on June 29, 1947, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Beloit. She was a lifelong, active member of St. Paul's. She was also a 50 year member of Eastern Star Chapter #77. A devoted mother and grandmother, Evelyn enjoyed time spent with the children playing games and encouraging their love of learning. Her interests were varied but she especially liked to read.   Evelyn is survived by her children, Kristine Eich of Portage, and David Eich of Mesa, AZ, her grandchildren, Matthew Owen of Prince George, VA, David Jordan (DJ), Elizabeth, and Abigail Eich of Greencastle, PA; her brother Herbert (Billie) Dahlberg, her sister Darlene Nelson, a special niece and nephew, Judy and Tom Priska; nieces and nephews, Linda Dahlberg, Erik (Jill) Dahlberg, Lari Tidwell, Timi (Chad) Moore, Dani (Chris) Amman and many great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother and sister in law, Edwin (Jeanne) Dahlberg and brother in law, Jess Nelson.   A celebration of Evelyn's life will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, November 17, 2012 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 212 W. Grand Ave., Beloit, with the Very Reverend Gail E. Abbott officiating. Friends will be received on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Inurnment will follow the service in the Chapel of Joseph of Arimathea. Memorials may be given in her name to St. Paul's Episcopal Church.   The family wishes to express its gratitude to Dr. Gold and Dr. Lee for their many years of dedicated and compassionate care of Evelyn.
