Portage - Erwin C. Van Schoyck, age 89, of Portage joined June, the love of his life, on Sunday, November 2, 2014.He was born on June 29th, 1925, to Clark & Jennie (Hindes)Van Schoyck.  He graduated from Portage High School in 1943 and then joined the United States Navy in October of that year.  While in the Navy he served as a Fire Controlman on the USS Bolivar in the Pacific Theater, during WW II.  On June 12th, 1949 he married June Anne Grotzke at the Methodist Church in Portage, WI.Many area residents may remember him from his years driving truck for the Sunnyside Feed Mill.  After leaving the feed mill he worked until retirement for the Columbia County Highway Department.  Dad always said that he worked full time in order to support his hobby of farming.He is survived by his children; Judy Van Schoyck-Fritschler (Brian Fritschler), Jenny Van Schoyck-Teeter, John (Pam) Van Schoyck, and Beth (Al) Comstock, his granddaughters Kari Schaper, Melissa Van Schoyck (Eric Melby), Alicia Van Schoyck (Matt Weatherwax), and Sara Comstock.  His step-grandchildren Tracy Teeter, Tricia Teeter (Jeff Peil) and Travis Teeter.  He is further survived by great grandchildren; Donovan Van Schoyck, Addyson Melby, Vada Weatherwax, and Kellen Peil, his sister Wilma Parrott, sisters-in-law Rosemary Grotzke and Mary Grotzke, and brother-in-law James Zeimet, and many nieces, nephews, and other family members.He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Eleanor (Norm) Jensen, Maxine (Jack) Doepke, Ione Zeimet, brother Ira Van Schoyck, brothers-in-law Paul (Mickey), Lynn, and Peter Grotzke and son-in-law, Mike Teeter.A celebration of Erwin's life will be held on Sunday, November 9th, from 1-4PM at the American Legion Post 271 in Poynette where lunch will be served.The family would like to thank all of his caregivers past and present at American Way, Agrace Hospice Care, and the clinic staff at the William S.
