Ernest "Darrell" Hollis The son of Ernest Doy and Julianne Marie Hollis, Darrell was born Feb 22, 1946, and passed on May 13, 2024.He attended Cottage Grove and Monona Grove schools.

Darrell worked for the City of Madison Streets Department until his retirement from the city in 2001. He later worked for Pomp's Tire Service for "fun money".

Darrell married Lynda Johnson in 1966, and together they raised two children; Denise (Joe) and Brian (Amyra), with whom they were blessed with four grandchildren; Amanda, John, Jessenia (Matt), Malik and one great-grandson; Jackson. They built a wonderful family and life together. Lynda proceeded him in death in 2008.

Darrell was also fortunate to spend many amazing years with Bonnie Elsing. They enjoyed traveling the United States and visiting Harley Davidson dealerships. Their collection of HD clothing and shot glasses are a testament to their travels. Together they bought retirement properties in Wisconsin and Arizona. Bonnie proceeded him in death in 2021.

Darrell is survived by his children and grandchildren; brother Bobbie (Pam), sisters Mary Lou, Linda (Dave) and Brenda (Bob). He is proceeded in death by his parents and brothers, Harold and Gary. Darrell is further survived by Lynda's and Bonnie's extended families, who shared their love and compassion in Darrell's final days. Know that Darrell felt your love.

A simple man who could make friends anywhere, Darrell will be missed by his immediate and extended families, and numerous friends like Mac, Ken, Little Joe and others too numerous to list. The family wishes to extend our heartfelt thanks to his sister Mary Lou for her loving and compassionate care in his final days.

A Celebration of Life event will be held later this summer, details will follow once determined.
