Elizabeth Marie Vesely, age 101, of Portage passed away on Tuesday May 8, 2018.  Liz was born on February 26, 1917 in a farm house in Caledonia Township to Ernest and Emma (Eberlein) Mueller.  She married Harold Vesely on December 22, 1951. She worked forty years at Weyenberg Shoe Factory in Portage. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.  She enjoyed doing volunteer work, was a Sunday school teacher, delivered meals on wheels, sewed quilts for the church, helped out at the nutrition site and with the Grapevine.  She liked to crochet, travel, garden, do puzzles, and play cards and games with family and friends. She is survived by her daughters, Jane (Scott) Clemmons, Portage, and Julie (Rick) Schaffer, Dousman, daughter-in-law, Dana Schwanz, grandchildren Matthew Vesely, Casey Schwanz, Megan Vesely, Nathan (Ashleigh) Schaffer, Ellery (Courtney) Schaffer, Randy Ross Vesely, Mallory (Corey) Megown and great grandchildren, Cole, Kendall, Rachel and Owen Schaffer, and Lucille Schwanz, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Randy, brothers William, Forest, Herbert and Ernest Mueller. Visitation will be held at Kratz Funeral Home in Portage (www.kratzfuneralhome.com) on Sunday, May 13, 2018 from 4:00-7:00 p.m.  A committal service will be held on Monday, May 14 at 10:00 a.m. at Oak Grove Cemetery in Portage. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church or Generations Hospice.
