Edna Irene Thompson age 82 of Portage, WI died on Thursday, May 29, 2025, in the Aspirus Divine Savior Hospital in Portage, WI.

Edna was born on December 7, 1942, to George and Ruth (Braun) Carpenter.

Edna Loved her life with adventure; she drove race cars and taught her son all about racing. Edna had a never-quite attitude, she was spunky and outgoing but set in her way, always on the go. Edna loved her family, always making sure that the kids were taken care of, she would call her son Richard just about every day to talk about the news and current events. Edna enjoyed shopping but would never be seen in public without her hair done just right.

Edna is survived by her son: Richard D. (Vicki) Thompson; daughter Lora L. (Daniel Rettammel) Thompson; Brothers Gary (Betty) Carpenter and Bill Carpenter. Survived by eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Edna is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Patty Smith and Darlene Carpenter, brothers Willard and Pete Carpenter.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the Kratz Funeral Home 302 E. Conant St. in Portage, WI, a public visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m.

Burial will follow the service in the Silver Lake Cemetery in Portage, WI
