Dorothy T. Collins, age 83 years of Portage died on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at her residence.  She was born on April 16, 1930 in Brooklyn, NY to Daniel and Mary Frances (Nichols) Gallagher.   Dorothy was united in marriage to John Collins on November 27, 1948 at St. John the Baptist Church in Brooklyn, NY; he preceded her in death on October 16, 2006.  She was a homemaker, loving wife, great mother, thoroughly enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren, enjoyed bingo, sewing, quilting and made lots of quilts for River Haven.  Dorothy was also a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.   Survivors include 4 children, Tom Collins (Teri Revell) of Montverde, FL, the favorite daughter, Jeri Showers of Packwaukee, Mike (Sue) Collins of Pollack Pines, CA and Dan (Josie) Collins of Alexandria, VA, 4 grandchildren, Jessica Achterberg, Lance (Connie) Achterberg, Cal Collins and Kayla Collins, 5 great grandchildren, Taylor (Simon) Charumonta, Cheyene Achterberg, Lucas Achterberg, Cameron Achterberg and Chase Achterberg, brother, Jimmy Gallagher of Richmond, VA, 3 sisters in law, Frances Collins of Portage, Mary Jane Feith of Wisconsin Rapids and Phyllis Collins of Madison and other relatives and many friends.  Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, son in law, Robert Showers, daughter in law, Marian Collins, brother, Danny, and sisters, Agnes, Helen, Eleanor and Patricia.   Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 3, 2014 at 1:00 PM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Portage with Father Gary Krahenbuhl officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Portage.  Friends may call at the church on Monday from 11 AM until 1 PM Service Details.
