Donna Mae Louise Cook Donna Mae Louise Cook, 87, of Arden, North Carolina, during a sudden decline in her health, went home to be with her Savior on December 6, 2016.  Donna was born May 30, 1929, in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, to Mr. Eldred Staab and Francis (Knoll) Staab.  She was an only child and spent her childhood in Beaver Dam. Donna was united in marriage to Orris Dean Cook of Pardeeville, Wisconsin, on October 2, 1948, at First Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam.  Over their 62 years of marriage, they spent many years on a farm just south of Pardeeville.  Later in life they moved to Columbus and then Dalton.  Upon Orris' death in 2011, Donna moved into an apartment in Portage before accepting an offer to move to North Carolina to be with Norman and Karen Cook. In January, 2013, Donna moved into an apartment at Trinity View Retirement Community, near Asheville, North Carolina.  During her time at Trinity View, she enjoyed Norman and Karen's close companionship as they also monitored and assisted in her care management.  Donna particularly enjoyed dinner at the local German restaurant and visiting the Biltmore Estate in Asheville by taking leisurely drives through the woods and surrounding gardens.  The seasonal tours through the Blue Ridge Parkway was always met with gratification.  Donna was also an avid reader, enjoying thriller/suspense novels.  Donna was also a member of Living Savior Lutheran Church in Asheville. Survivors include four children: Candice (Michael) Slette of Fort Jones, CA., Curtis (Kathy) Cook of Rio, Jeffrey (Chris) Cook of Reno, NV, and Norman (Karen) Cook of Asheville, NC; daughter-in-law Judy Cook of Portage, 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.  She was preceding in death by her parents, husband Orris, and a son, Terry. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff and caregivers at Trinity View for making Donna "family" during her time there and to Four Seasons Hospice Care, Hendersonville, North Carolina, for their outstanding compassionate care.
