Obituary

Dawn was born in the Town of Pershing, Wisconsin to Reuben Lester Powers and Flossie Mae (Drought) Powers.  She attended the Donald grade school, 1st through 8th grade.  From there she graduated from Gilman High School in 1953.  In High School, she met her High School Sweetheart Emil Mravik, her future husband.  They married May 30, 1953 in Gilman, WI at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.  She converted to Catholicism in May of 1953.  In their 63 ѕ years of marriage they were blessed with 7 children: Eugene, Darla, Audrey, Laura, Melvin, Reuben, Sarah, and 12 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren. She was President and a member of the Portage Jaycettes.  She enjoyed curling for many years.  As a member of the Portage Curling Club she played 3rd on her husband's rink that scored an "8" end (one of the few and unique experiences).  She also curled on a women's league where her rink won the State Badger Bonspiel.  She was on a winning rink for the Portage Tartan round robin games.  Dawn was awarded a certificate of Distinguished Service for her efforts in starting the youth curling in the 1980's along with her husband, Emil. Dawn enjoyed dancing, roller skating and assisting her children grow up.  She loved dancing to polkas and waltz's.  The Packers were her favorite football team, which she diligently watched whenever possible. Above all, she loved all her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  There were no favorites.  She chaffeured her children around to various events with no complaints.  She could reach you in the back seat of a station wagon from the front seat without removing her seatbelt.  She was the best mother one could ever expect, not asking for much but doing all she could in the community and helping the family.  She was a very good disciplinarian. Dawn achieved her goal to visit and tour Ireland, the place where her roots started. She was always a beautiful dresser - wearing jewelry well and was courteous to all. She was adventurous, daring and would take on any challenge:  motorcycle, ATV, skiing, hunting deer, and baseball just to name few.  She was a 14 gallon blood donor. She drove school bus for Portage School system at the same time, she worked as a cook at Hardee's for 10 years. She was always supportive of Emil in all that he did. She is survived by her husband, Emil, of 63 ѕ years.  Children, Eugene (Barb) Mravik, Portage, Darla Mravik, Ripon, Audrey (Carines) Duke, Mesa, AZ, Laura (Byron) Kershaw, Pardeeville, Melvin (Kim) Mravik, Portage, Reuben (Sue) Mravik, Holmen, Sarah (Brad) Millard, Pardeeville, 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
