Rural Blair, Wisconsin David Elton Tjerstad age 69 of Rural Blair, WI died on Friday, August 11, 2017 at his home in rural Blair. David was born on August 11, 1948 to Elton and Bessie (Knutson) Tjerstad. He was raised on the family farm and continued farming until November 2013. David was married to Mary Wier in December 7, 1974. Together they continued farming and bore and raised four boys Dwight, Dwayne, Daryl and Daniel. They were and are a close knit family. David loved above all else his family, his farm, cows, tractors and his dog Hannah. He was most proud of his boys. David was diagnosed with diabetes when he was 20 years old and struggled with it daily. In 2005 David received a kidney from his wife and it worked until June 2014, then needed to start dialysis. In November 2016 David underwent a triple Bi-pass and after rehab did return home. Most recently he was found to have an occlusion in one of the new grafts and was again hospitalized. David was blessed to have met all four of his grandchildren. David was loved by many and will be missed by all. David is survived by his wife Mary (Wier) Tjerstad, sons Dwight David (Christina nee: Kelly); Dwayne Elton; Daryl Lloyd and Daniel Lee (Tara nee: Zimmerman). Four grandchildren Trevor Daniel; Tucker David; Daisy Dalilah and Marthea Ruth. Also Survived by a sister, Bette (David) Rod; a brother, John (Barb) Molstad. David is preceded in death by his Father Elton and Mother Bessie. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 17, 2017 in the North Beaver Creek Faith Lutheran Church in rural Ettrick, WI with Pastor Dave Hendrickson officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at Daniel Tjerstad Farm N3665 Hoheim Road. Ettrick, WI. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Burial will follow in the North Beaver Creek Faith Lutheran Cemetery.
