Clair Arryault Townsned, age 98 years, of Portage, Died on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at the Divine Savior Extended Care in Portage. He was born on May 10, 1911 in Galesburg, IL to Fay and Iva (Rhidenhour) Townsend. Clair had worked for the C B & Q Railroad in Galesburg, IL, enjoyed farming and had been the Parts Manager for Hill Ford for many years before his retirement. He also enjoyed ballroom dancing and playing the guitar. Survivors include his Sister - Donna (Joseph) Chvojicek of Portage; 3 grandchildren - Debra Watson, Jeanie Von Dalson and William Spout; nieces and nephews - Lawrence (Mary) Chvojicek, John Chvojicek, Linda Bahr, Kathie Chvojicek, Kenneth (Ruth) Chvojicek, Donna Farrey, Diane (Russ) Arnett and David (Lori) Chvojicek; and many great and great great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife - Dorothy, parents, Son - Kay Townsend, Daughter - Ann Townsend, 2 sisters - Ava Anderson and Reba Wells, and niece - Julie Rowe. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at 1:00 PM at the Picha Funeral Home, Portage with Shawn Levaggi officiating. Burial will follow in the Silver Lake Cemetery, Portage.
