Betty Lou Peterson, age 81 years of Portage died on Friday, September 13, 2013 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison. She was born on July 12, 1932 in Vandalia, IL to Martin and Viola (Miller) Freeman. Betty lived in Portage for many years where she had worked for AMPI for 26 years. She enjoyed doing puzzles and fishing. Survivors include 5 children, Deborah J. (Donald) Bagley of Montello, Ruth L. (Bill Meylor) Peterson of Sun Prairie, Stanley J. (Denise Dojahn) Peterson of Sequin, TX, Stewart L. (Lori) Peterson of Reedsburg and Peggy (John) Gray of Eldorado, WI, 24 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 2 sisters, Harriet English of Okeechobee, FL and Wanda (Claude) Anderson of Portage, special friend Elwyn Schave of Portage and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband and friend Stanley A. Peterson, brother and brothers in law. Memorial services will be held on Monday, September 16, 2013 at 10:00 AM at the Picha Funeral Home, Portage with Scott Schroeder officiating.
