Betty Ilene Hoffer, age 82 years, of Portage, died on Friday, January 15, 2010 at the Divine Savior Hospital. She was born on November 28, 1927 in Hillsboro, WI to Harold and Mable (Sutherland) Mitchell. Betty graduated from Wisconsin Dells High School also receiving a secretarial degree from MATC. On December 23, 1945, she was united in marriage in Wisconsin Dells to Clyde Hoffer. She worked for the Weyenberg Shoe Factory for 32 years in the Fitting Room. She was a member of the Portage United Methodist Church, enjoys flowers, especially rose bushes and enjoyed her beloved dog, Mindy. Survivors include her husband - Clyde of Portage; Son - Larry (Carole) Hoffer of Portage; Daughter - Nancy (Steven) Nelson of Kenosha; 4 Grandchildren - Jamie Hoffer, Lori (Matthew) Barthel, Pamela (Michael) Charles and Daniel Hinickle; 9 Great Grandchildren - Chase, Colin and Elizabeth Barthel, Bradley, Joseph, Andrew and Katherine Charles, Samantha and Grace Hinickle. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by 3 sisters, LaVerne, Shirley and Marcella. Private family funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at the Picha Funeral Home, Portage with Rev. Tom Countryman officiating.
