Betty Jane (Moen) Cartrette age 81, passed away on December 18, 2017 in her home in Coral City, WI (Whitehall) surrounded by her loved ones. Betty Jane was born on April 29, 1936 on Chepultapek in Ettrick Township to Christ and Ella (Mustad) Moen as the 13th child, she was the youngest sibling. She lived on Chepultapek until 1941, from there they moved to Bear creek for a short time, until moving to Beaches Corner. Betty Jane was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Blair, WI. She graduated from Blair in 1954. In 1955 she moved to Milwaukee to seek employment, she did several odd jobs. In 1957 she started working at Personal Indemnity until 1968. This was a job she truly enjoyed. She met Bert Cartrette Jr. and they married on November 15, 1958. In 1968 they purchased a tavern in Milwaukee. In 1970 they decided to move to Blair where they purchased a tavern and ran that business until 1981. In 1981 they moved to Coral City (Whitehall). Betty Jane took a job tending bar for Dan Benusa and other employers until her retirement in 1998. After Betty Janes' retirement she enjoyed spending time with her family. There were numerous gatherings at her home throughout the years. Mom was the center of the family. She enjoyed dancing, singing, doing cross word puzzles, playing skippo, scrabble, aggravation and occasionally going to the casino. She made many trips back to Chepultapek throughout her life with her family to reminisce about her childhood. Betty jane is survived by her children; Sue (Ron) Stenberg of Osseo; Stacey (Mike) Wozney of Whitehall; Sherri (Dave) Olson of Blair; Bert (Wanda) Cartrette of Blair; 10 grandchildren: Brad, Mike, Jamie, Jenna, Jacey, Jessica, Dave Jr., Chad, Cody, Cole; 16 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild. 2 sisters Sylvia and Beverly and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Betty jane is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bert Jr; grandson Cody Wozney, 6 sisters; Clara, Harriet, Evelyn (Tootsie), Lucille, Viola, Myrtle and 4 brothers: Clarence, James (Jiggs), Milton, Duane (Toke). Funeral Services will be held at 1:05 p.m. on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 in the Blair Lutheran Church East. Visitation will be held from 4 until 7 p.m. on Tuesday December 26, 2017, also one hour prior to the service both at church.
